My car did not come from the factory with the option and once we turned it on and put the sensors in I had it.

That was clearly the case with your vehicle, but I can assure you not all 997s come with the TPMS module and receivers, so more than adding the sensors and turning the TPMS on is required to get it working. I wish it was as easy as just adding the sensors and 30 seconds with a programmer, I'd be doing it myself.
