Just bought a daily driver as a grocery getter because I HATE dings. Is this normal or do I stand alone?

I hate dings too, but I hate not driving the Porsche more. It's a tough trade.
I keep saying I'll get all the dings dealt with at once but on the other hand it teaches me not to sweat the little stuff.
Even more evidence that the 911 is the best therapist out there.

I used my 997 with 27k on the clock 3 years ago for a DD for a year when i got her..
put over 35k miles in one year and spent over $5000 in maintenance.
After the clutch job, ($2500) I decided it was time for a daily driver.
At first I bought an IS300 to beat around. (most reliable, excellent handling, and well optioned car you can get for $5000.)
Now I use a 07 e92 328i that I bought with 6k on the odo.
and yes.. cars do tend to get a bit more abused when it's a DD.
I think it comes down to how many miles you drive a year. I drive easily over 40k a year, I feel like I need a dd. But at times, I still feel like I should be driving the 911 everyday.

My daily driver is a Porsche. Both of my cars are Porsches.
I do not like to see dings, but it is a fact of life. Even lightly used cars can get dings.
Some other, make that most other drivers, are just clueless and will open a door into the side of your car. Even though whenever possible I park away from other cars invariably when I come back to my car there's a car parked along side my car sometimes on both sides.
If you can't tolerate dings and things like that leave the Porsche on the showroom floor for someone else. If you buy the car, if you drive the car, it will get dings.

I put about 12k on my daily/ currently BMW 550 and about 3-4k on the 911. This makes me no only miss the P when it goes unused for a few days but really appreciate it for what it is. (A temporary vacation from day to day life) Not sure I would like the P as much if I had to use it every day. Tried that once with a Boxster in 01 and ended up dissatisfied.

I replaced my daily driver Lexus with the Porsche 911 which is now my daily driver. I have another car that is my "special"car (special meaning I only drive it once in a while on the weekends in the summertime. ) I try to keep the miles low on that one and it also gets parked in the garage instead of the Porsche. I think my 911 is jealous that I care more about my other car.

I drive my '09 S as my daily driver, about 22 miles round trip each day during the week. My commute consists of primarily driving a canyon road to get from my house to work each day. Equates to approx 6,500 miler per year so not bad at all. Live in SoCal so no worries with bad weather. Use the wife's Pilot on the weekends for taking the kids to their activities, running errands, etc.
