Slight knocking noise - what is it?
Hey guys,
I hear a slight knocking noise from the rear of my car in the morning when I first start to go from my driveway (parked on an incline) and then it goes away. I also hear a knocking noise from the front when making a sharp turn out of my driveway(perhaps a cv boot or something?)
I figured I would seek the collective wisdom on here before I call the dealership, since I'm new to Porsche and don't yet know about any Porsche specific nuances.
Thanks !

No one will be able to tell you what is going on from this post. I can tell you that if you are saying that you hear a knock from the motor on start up you mustn't ignore it. No way this could be a good thing. Post after you have tech look at it (borescope would be a good idea imo) and repost results. List stuff like year, model, mileage etc. The stuff from the front is probably no big deal. If both "knocks" sound the same to you all bets are off.

That's true I'll try to give a bit more info. It's a 2011 Carrera S with 24k miles
Today I was parked on my driveway which is on a hill and I was backed in so the front of the car is downward and facing the street. I started the car and put it in neutral. Everything is ok at this point. But then I let off the ebrake and to my surprise I didn't start rolling down the driveway. It should start rolling. This seemed weird. So then I put it into first and started to drive forward -then I heard a clunk from the rear and I started moving forward.
The other knocking noise from the front is very subtle when making sharp turnsamd sounds like it's coming from the wheel well which is why I thought of cv boot.

Regarding the knocking noise while you turn your steering wheel, perhaps this thread may be useful to you... https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...fixed-diy.html

First sound was brakes releasing from rotor when rusted (normal). When making sharp turns with wheel on full lock at low speed you can slip the front wheels on the road. Forget the borescope

+1. My car is clean almost nightly so I get this knocking sound almost every morning, except the nights when the cleaner is off.

My clunk happens in the morning 'after every car wash'. Sticky parts!
Just watch it tho. I am familiar with failing CV's; however, yours is a newer car so the likelihood of the CV being the issue is remote.
