997.2 Exhaust Upgrade

I want to make some upgrades to my 997.2 exhaust. This is my daily driver about 80% of the time and I drive it to clients, so I can't have the exhaust note too wild. That said, I do want more sound. I am torn between the Fister upgrade and the Sharkwerks bypass. I may end up with both of them, but some have said it gets very loud, so I want to ease into it.

My question is, do I start with the Fister upgrade or the Sharkwerks? I am assuming the 997.2's with PSE have the center muffler, so that was making me lean to the Fister first, but I read some old posts were others recommended the opposite. Thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I went with the gundo hack and very happy with it. But from what I hear, the fister setup sounds awesome also.

Thanks for the responses. Do either of you notice the Gundo/ Fister being louder than the PSE, or does it just give you that deeper sound? Again, just worried about it being too loud for my daily use.

I have the Gundo Hack and AWE crossover pipes installed. I get numerous positive comments on the sound and several have assumed I had the PSE option. The crossover pipes by themselves do not add much to the sound, but the combination of the two mods make it perfect-no drone but very noticeable (in a good way) when you open her up.

If you're considering the Sharkwerks bypass, I would give Alex a call first and discuss your options.

Sharkwerks has tons of experience with the 997.2 exhaust and they won't steer you wrong.

Do BOTH! It sounds awesome. If you want to start with one, then it would absolutely be the Gundo/Fister mod. The center bypass by itself doesn't make that much of a sound difference. I was very disappointed with it alone. Then I put the Fister modded cans on and the whole tone changed. It's quite a bit louder then stock but still does not drone. Even my wife is fine with how it sounds. She only made the comment that is sounds a lot different and asked what I did. Nothing about the sound level.

I installed the Sharkwerks. I chose theirs because it improves the sound to be a bit louder and way more "Porsche like". I am very happy. Note that I do not like the aftermarket sport exhausts and I even find the Porsche sport exhaust to be too aggressive form my tastes.

Read about it here:

I would say start with the Fister. It's really nice when you're on it, but keep it under 3,500rpms and it won't wake the neighbors. More to the point there's no drone at any RPMs so if you ever have to take a client to lunch you won't give them a headache.

Both... But, with your scenario, id ease in and spend the least money...(fister/gundo) first, and see how you like it.

Im running cargraphic x pipe 200 cel cats and fister and its mild under normal crusing.
and NO DRONE either!

The funny thing for me with exhaust is this...when im in the car, I really don't understand how my perceived idea of "loud" is until I have someone I trust drive the car alongside of me on the road so I can get a sense of how obnoxious (or not) my car really is to others. Ive always found I think its louder than it really is.

Does the amplified noise fit the car? for me...yes. Will it fit your needs for business?
Will your neighbors like it upon startup until it hits warm idle?

Good luck with your decision.
