"Omerta" is not to be trifled with. heh heh.
Btw, the Studie was 10 years old when I trashed it. Made myself 5 years older than I am. Math skills are slipping

I know we don't mean to jack this thread, but FYI, your skills aren't slipping --- it's the memory. We are like cars: " It's not the year of the make, it's the mileage."
Your memory cells are practicing omerta. Just picking on you man! Hope you enjoyed the little Friday humor.

No post from OP is a good sign for him. There was a thread where member indicated he had to sign non disclosure agreement w PNA before they would step up. Take care. Gerry

GPjli, you mentioned that problems with Cylinder #6 are known. Could you elaborate as this may be of help in pleading my case. Also, would anyone know if dropping a valve would have any symptoms or sounds before hand?
Thanks All

Do a search on this and related 997 forums for "#6 cylinder failure" as this accounts for most engine failures other than ims in 05's. It has to do with poorly distributed coolant circulation and badly designed head gaskets resulting in subsequent localized overheating and ultimate catastrophy for some but by no means all or most motors. Hartec in England has a wealth of information in his well documented work. A must read. As I understand it this problem relates to what was (is?) also referred to as "d-chunk failure" in early motors wherein the cylinder/block develops a characteristic D shaped crack following many cycles of overheating. Cyl 6 is the most commonly affected as it is at the end of the line for coolant. As far as I know there is not much warning, just sudden failure, although you may get volumes of white smoke from left tailpipe as block fails and engine tries burning antifreeze. A borescoping would most likely show scoring and cracking beforehand. You would be best served by going directly to the technical resources such as Hartec in UK and here Jack Raby and others since they have written the bible on this stuff. Good luck w Porsche. Keep posting.

Have an update for you all. I waited to see final invoice when I picked up the car before I posted. As mentioned I have taken my car exclusively to Porsche Norwell for all maintenance. The diagnosis on the car was that one of the valves from cylinder #5 broke. Head and block destroyed. Porsche has paid all parts and labor to repair the motor. This included a short block and a cylinder head. My participation was fluids and fasteners, I also decided to replace the valves and all related components in the other head and some maintenance items like coil packs, plugs and a new clutch throw out bearing. Clutch was like new. All in 5k from my pocket. I have to give a special thanks to Wayne and Alex at Porsche Norwell. Having a car 100% dealer maintained does have its advantages. Thank you all for your support and Happy Holidays.

no warranty and pcna coughed up for a new short block and heads?
wow that is amazing! my c2s was covered by a fidelity warranty when my ims blew reversing out of the garage. i got a new short block and they re-used my heads
buy your SA a bottle of nice wine, this bill should have cost you in excess of $28,000.00
my short block was $21k because i didn't need new heads

And that's the reason why I sub'd. Mine is an 07.
I always thought Porsche would do good since:
1. One owner
2. Dealer serviced
3. Low miles
4. Post info -- no over revs
It would be bad image if Porsche didn't step up. Heck, if they didn't, I probably wouldn't trust the brand as much anymore.
I now have 70,000 miles on my DD. So far, so good.
