The problem is the air bag which is separate from the wheel. I went through this when rebuilding my car. The only way is to change (unless you rebuild the whole column I didn't think it was worth the hassle) out the steering and have one made (a smaller diameter helps too)that will allow a slightly long reach though you're still only looking at about and inch at most. Good luck

The first thing I do is punch my service guy in the head. I understand moving the seat, but DON'T TOUCH MY STEERING WHEEL.

This happened to me 2 days ago so the wound is fresh.

EZ on them. If they need to test drive my car, I would rather have them adjust everything to their personal settings. This way, the mechanics would be 'safer' driving my car.

Just make sure he does not look like the garage guy from Bueller's Day Off!

Ouch. Mine is serviced at Porsche of Silver Spring and frankly they are such good people that sort of thing does not even register.

OK you folks are telling me that a spacer even with a custom wheel is a problem because of the airbag harness? Not good.

No need to get violent to the people servicing your car. otherwise do the service yourself and save the 10 seconds it takes to adjust your steering wheel

OK, this was sarcasm folks! My first job was working in an auto shop and I made more mistakes than I care to admit. Customers were typically very understanding and I always make an effort to do the same.

With that being said, I do prefer to service my own vehicle. This is just a pet peeve.
