i agree, that was my philosophy, then i started to do some searching to learn more about investing, and the #1 rated site on investopedia happened to be a day trading site, and it was all down hill from there

+1. well said. now every other company would like to launch smartphone.

I will not be surprised if we see electric model added in coming years next to the existing 20 flavors of 911.

talking about electric cars in a 997 thread may not be so strange in a few years. perhaps the 911 will be hybrid someday. why won't porsche build a 911 with a battery and electric motor for "torque fill" similar to the 918 or the mclaren p1? would anyone buy it? i think so at the right price. note the base 991 is a 3.4, down from the 997.2's 3.6. perhaps the 992 will be a hybrid with a smaller ICE (diesel) engine with an electric motor? would anyone buy that? i may consider it.

Looks cool though.
The Federal loan was repaid a long time ago. The only taxpayer money he is getting is the deals he makes with the States. All companies get incentives to relocate/build factories in States.

Are you afraid you will love it? I just sold my 997.1 Targa 4S and bought one. Incredible ride and car. Sure, no sports car but it is so refreshing. 100% torque available at standstill is pretty remarkable.

Don't stick your heads in the sand. It is a great car. Finally, a sweet product from the USA.

Really? What tax money would that be? Maybe if you live in CA and now NV, but if you don't Tesla is not using your tax money. They repaid their government loan early and with interest (YEARS ago). I suppose you don't like nice products coming out of the USA? Hate those good paying jobs in the USA also? Heaven forbid we actually make a nice product here?!!

If you drive fast, then you are going to get less than 265 miles before needing a charge. But you can plug in every night (5 seconds) and have a full battery when you wake up. Oh, and their Superchargers are free. Oh, BTW, with regenerative braking you probably can go over 100k miles easily without needing to replace your break pads. Worried about the battery/motor breaking? Well, there is an 8 year, UNLIMITED mile warranty on the battery and the powertrain. What is there not to like that you have to bash the company?

I admire Tesla for what they have done, and you may not like Musk but he believes in what he is doing and that says a lot about a person.

I am happy that you like your car. Good for you.

As for me, part of the joy of owning my 911 is the sweet, sweet sound it makes on cold starts. Nothing like that. Or the awesome exhaust note on throttle blips when downshifting, especially when everything comes together on the braking, downshift and turn in going through a diminishing radius turn. So, to answer your question, no I am not afraid I will love it. That will never happen.

I agree with you on this one, there is a reason PSE is such a popular option and there are hundreds of companies making aftermarket exhaust. Maybe someone should make one for Tesla, maybe then, I might get one.

Maybe not an exhaust, some speakers back there. Something to give it some noise.

Trading Gas for Coal and Feeling Green?

If only the electricity to charge a Tesla came from a lightning bolt. Truth is most of our power plants in the USA are coal-fired, so we are really trading one hydrocarbon for another albeit a dirtier one, coal! The Tesla P85 is an amazing piece of engineering, an incredible design, and it represents a glimpse of our future more so than our current Porsche line-up. I am sure the folks in Stuttgart are looking into hybrids, etc.

First our tranny's are computer-automated, second are engines are swapped for motors. Soon the thrill of going out for a cup of coffee will be gone and I will have to start making it at home Should I short Starbucks?
