Need help determing best value
So I am looking at getting a 997.2 and my "budget" is between 56-60K. I know this is a big range, but it looks like I can either get the following? What would you lean toward? All would be PDK and at least "S" (I love a stick but the my back doesn't permit me to shift in stop and go). The wife would probaly like a convert, but I've always liked coupes for quiet and rigidity. Are the first year engines/PDKs something to worry about? The car would be more of a weekend fun car (I put too many miles during the week for the day job)
2009 Coupe "S" - low mileage (under 20k)
2009 Cab "S - 30-40k miles
2009 Coupe "4s" 30-40K miles
2010 Coupe "S" - 25-35k miles
2010 Cab "S" - 40k+ miles
2010 Coupe "4S" - 35k+ miles
2011 Coupe "S" - under 15k miles (but I would have to stretch the budget about $5k)
Thanks for the thoughts and I hope I don't get beat up to bad for the goofy question.

Some but not all of the first year 997.2s (2009) had some issues with higher oil consumption and subsequent 2010 models received engine improvements, as far as I know it was improved piston rings.
I have a 2010 with 55k miles and oil consumption is minimal and tailpipes stay shiny too.
Based on my personal experience and automotive common sense I advise to get 2010 or later models!!!

CF

You are searching for 997.2, PDK, 'S'. Great start. I'd narrow it down a bit and confirm 2S vs 4S. The 4S has all wheel drive, a wider rear and really handles well in corners. Winters are a bonus. The 2S is lighter and narrower in the rear with a traditional rear wheel drive feel. Test drive similar 2S and 4S versions to help you decide.
Beyond that buy the youngest lowest mileage version you can afford, preferably still under factory warranty given your search criteria (CPO perhaps?), and be sure to have a PPI done before committing to buy. Good luck on your search!

2009 2S, coupe low mileage is my choice.
actually that s what I bought (6 speed)
No oil usage.
You don t need a 4s(IMO) for a part time car as you won t have to drive in bad weather. 09 engines and PDKs have been solid.

Go with the 2011 S. That's what I have. What's the saying "Always buy the newest Porsche you can afford"?
