Spring Install Cost 997.2
I'm looking at having a set of Techart lowering springs installed and from what I am reading on the forums I should expect to spend about the price of the springs for the install. I am being quoted from our local P-guy almost $1300 with alignment not including the springs. If it is going to cost me that much for the install I might just do it right and go with the TPC Racing Stage 2 kit and do it all at once. What have most have paid? My research is coming up with $600.

I dropped off my car just today to have H&R springs installed on my 997.1 C4S and it's going to be about $600 with alignment. I called a shop that was real close to me house but his price for install was around $1100 too. It seems to vary widely.

Here's what I paid from a local highly regarded independent on a 997.1
$700 - Bilstein coilover install, I supplied the parts
$200 - corner balancing, can only be done if you have coilovers
$325 - aggressive street four wheel alignment, maxing out front camber to reduce understeer
-$187 - 15% discount at the time
--------------
$1058 total (all labor, no parts)

I've got a lift, as sweet set of TV repairman tools...and it's winter...so thinking of putting them on myself.
Question on the alignment...is this a specialty Porsche thing to get it RIGHT? I mean not just any shop can do the alignment correct?

To get to stock specs yes any place can do it. Do you trust them is a different question.
If your car is lowered significantly or you want alignment specs different than stock, go with an indy with experience on lowered cars.
And yes many people do the spring or coilover swap in their own garage then pay for an alignment. Consider doing a "coarse" DIY alignment before driving to your shop of choice. A severely misaligned car can be very dangerous to drive. DIY methods include marking the strut bolt locations with a sharpie, counting suspension threads before unbolting and matching that when reassembling, the "string" method along the rotors, cheap Harbor Freight magnetic alignment tools, and so on. Google is your friend here.

Same setup here, and I did them myself. I had it aligned at the dealer, with a full tank of gas, and they even put the equivalent of my weight in the seat before aligning the car.

So how was the install? Any brain surgery involved? I'm pretty well equipped to do the job...just never done the job.

Where? I've definitely been going to the wrong places. I've been hesitant to spend $1,500+ for springs and install. At $3-500 plus springs, this could be viable . . .

Try Svoboda Motorsport, located by Medley. William is great and super reasonable.
