you are correct, not resistor...... Diode.

That is just what happened to me. After about 14 months and less than 5,000 miles my passenger DRL went out, fog lights still work, but still upsetting. I will switch back to my stock lights soon. Save your cash my friend.

Thanks. I have always found individual LEDs bulbs to be very finicky. That's why the larger units/housings scare me in terms of reliability over the long haul....

Respectfully, that's where I disagree. Even though I've had a number of LED failures, the look is so much better than OEM that it's still very much worth the hassle. The ones I've had that have failed have done so fairly quickly, and were usually replaced under warranty. To me, the only question is whether you really get better quality if you pay more for the product. My personal experience is that you do not, and that it's hit or miss. I've had inexpensive ones work flawlessly, and branded ones that have failed right away.

I don't think there are very many Taiwanese companies that manufacture these lights. Generally, the lights themselves work fine, but there are connection or electrical resistance issues that can register errors. I've never had an LED bulb fail. Some of these errors, once identified, can be easily fixed. Overall, the light fixtures are extremely easy for a non-mechanical guy like me to swap out, so there are no associated labor charges. If one fails after the warranty expires, the issue is whether it's worth another $1-300 to do it again. For me, it's an easy call. I don't mind spending money, but I can't stand wasting it. LEDs just look so much better than stock that's I think it's worth it, but it's a pure judgment call.

My very first light swap were a set of used smoked taillights I found on eBay. For $65, I didn't expect much, and I stuck my toe in the water to try them. I was hooked. They lasted almost a year. By then, I knew what I wanted, and paid $350 for new ones. They've been trouble free for many months. I suggest you consider an inexpensive "trial" set. Be careful, though. It is addictive.

Walter,

So on the average, based on your experience, how long do the front last? How about the rear ones?

Thanks.

Congrats. How many miles on the rear lights in 2 years? And what brand are they?

I don't think we have enough data points, but so far it appears to be that (except for you) these lights don't last as long as they should.

So this translates to about 7 months worth of use 2-year ownership. I was hoping you would say 24,000 miles.

Mine is a daily driver and that was why I had to ask the question.

Thanks.

Both front and rear have been working trouble free for about a year now, 10K mikes as a DD. MY most problematic lights, by far, were the LED side markers. The double tube ones kept failing. I went with a set that has a series of LED bulbs, and they've been completely trouble free. My only ongoing issue is a rear fog light error message. It's probably an easy fix for someone who knows what they're doing.

Great conversation and feedback. I've done my fog/drl with LED and now need to deal with the taillights and have been concerned about the cost. I think I'll end up going with Dectanes just for piece of mind and warranty/service, if necessary.

Has anyone heard of the Spyder taillight LED's for these cars? Any feedback on them? They're going for under $400.
