997.1 LED DRLs--Working well?
I am considering doing the DRL upgrade from Del-Ray Customs. Just wondering if those that have had them installed for a while are still happy with them?
I have this fear of having them for a year and then a bulb going out and being out a whack of cash........
Thx

I've replaced every bulb in my car with LEDs, and think they make a huge improvement in both looks and functionality. Most of these fixtures are made in Taiwan, and seem to be of generally good quality. I've had a change my DRLs out a couple of times, and I don't know if it's because I went with brand x. Same with the side markers-- four sets and counting, one of which was name brand and considerably more expensive. Same with my taillights -- three sets. I think they all come with risk, though I cannot speak for Delray Customs. I find their prices a little on the high side. Perhaps they make it up in customer service. Their lights are sourced from Taiwan, though.
Whatever you do will not come without electrical issues. None of them are as plug-and-play as a non mechanical guy like me would like. I've added resistors, diodes, and parts I've never heard of as I've learned more than anticipated. My last iterations have been the least problematic, buy I still have one error message I need to clear whenever I start my car. The red exclamation point has been staring me down, mocking me, for months. And yet, they look great, and in my opinion, are worthwhile.

On a 2008 997.1 TT I've had the Depo taillights (sourced from CarLightPro) for close to 4 years and LED side markers (sourced from eBay vendor Fishcake) for a year and have never had any issues - no special resistors, all plug and play, all LED's lit - very satisfied. Have not done the DRL's though.

Thanks. I have LEDs in the interior, frunk and license plate. They work great. I also use LEDs in my parking lights (which I use as DRLs). They tend to flicker, no matter which bulbs I use. That's why I am considering the upgrade up front.
Appreciate your input.

I have DRLs from Delrey Customs, as well as the taillight conversions. Flawless, and totally update the look of the car. Highly recommended.

I had them on my C4s and loved them. No issues whatsoever. There is a nice set for sale currently.

I've had the plug AND play conversion on my car for 2 years now, no issues, no burned led's or error messages at all, never had to add anything, got them of eBay, paid 1 k for the whole set, sides front and back.

Ya. It's kind of confusing. Numerous sellers. All product seems to be from Taiwan, but the jury is out on whether the quality is all the same. Seems like some sellers have taken care of the code issue in advance. Del-Rey is $510 shipped. Not cheap.

for the fog lights (now led's) to work as daytime running lamps you have to install a small resistor on the light switch inside your car, it's about four dollars at RadioShack, three-minute installation, when driving with the lights off the new fog lights will turn on as daytime running lamps, at night time when you turn the lights on they will go off unless you pull on the switch like normal operation
