Talking BIG NEWS re: Club Coupes

This e-mail was forwarded to me from my dealer Suncoast.

Hi Tom,

My apologies for not being able to respond sooner. A fax was sent to your dealership on Monday, with information on Mr. Oliver's 911 Club Coupe. Did the fax go through? In case you didn't get the fax, Mr. Oliver's vehicle is number 28 of the 50 that are being produced. Its order reference number is 2197879, and its projected production completion date is today, 10/20/2005.

This vehicle will not appear in your inventory until PCNA invoices your dealership, which usually happens around the time that the vehicle is in PDI status. The normal logistics of vehicle transit time from Germany apply, when trying to estimate a delivery date. I believe that a vehicle being shipped to an east coast Porsche dealership arrives at the PDI about 3 weeks after production completes; it's whatever the transit time is for a regular Carrera.

I hope this is of assistance.

Kind regards,

Megan Snipes

Thank you for the update! It sounds like to long wait is nearing an end. I believe my car is number 15.

Tell us about the options you chose.

How much more do you have to pay for a Club Coupe over a regular Carrera S? Is it the same as a Carrera S with X51?

The Club Coupes were sold at a discount versus what you would pay if you ordered that car, but the base price was $99,911 because the base car included a lot of options as standard. It included: X51, metallic paint, full leather interior (standard colors), sports seats, sport chrono, thick three spoke stearing wheel, 6 speed with short shifter, sport wheels, PCM, PASM and PSM (which are standard on all S cars) and a console that matches the exterior color. Each car is marked with stainless steel doorsills that say "911 Club Coupe" and the drivers side door is marked with the number of the vehicle "PCA, # of 50."

I estimated that the identical car ordered through a dealer would cost about $10,000 more. I'm not sure if someone else has a more accurate estimate.

I'd like to hear you views about the aerokit after you have a chance to drive it a while. I would be worried about the low clearance for the approach angle when you enter and exit driveways, etc.

I love the look of the front with the aerokit. I think the wing is too big, but we'll see -- it might grow on me. No doubt, you car will look great.

I had a 2000 C2 with aerokit and lowered, a 2003 TT with aerokit and lowered, my current GT2 which is already very low. All of rubed the front lip leaving my office. You just get used to it and enjoy the car. I have seen several 997s with aerokits and yes the wing initialy seemed odd, it does grow on you. When the GT3 comes out using this wing, everyone will like it
