one touch window affected by microswitch?

Hi fellas,

I have a MY 2006 c2 cab and noticed my passenger window will not one touch roll up. I also discovered my window will drop 1cm when opening the door, but will not roll back up when the door closes. Both inside and outside handles will drop the passenger window, but will not roll back up. One touch roll down and window drop works flawlessly.

Question: Is the one touch roll up directly affected by this microswitch issue? And which microswitch do I need to replace? There are 3?

Many thanks members!!

The passenger window is designed in a manner that doesn't allow one touch up when it is fully open (lawyers at work to prevent accidental closure on body parts). However, once the window is half way up you can release the button and it will finish closing.

The 1cm problem (properly called "indexing") might be a microswitch, but you should first verify that the window is properly trained with its closing position. You do this by opening the window, then rolling it up until it is fully closed and stops, releasing the button, then pressing it up again and holding for a moment. (This is in the owners manual).

If that doesn't work, experiment with pulling the inside handle to see if it seems to index correctly, then try the outside window and do the same. I'd think you could tell which one isn't responding correctly. On my prior C4, I had a problem with indexing that the dealer fixed by simply adjusting the alignment of the inner door trim. Apparently it was slightly askew causing the magnet and switch not to properly engage.

Hopefully between knowing about the halfway-up lawyer function and the retraining of the closed position you will be fine.

He has a cab...and they do have one-touch up on the passenger side - guess the legal guys figured less risk of pinch with the soft top.

Yep, there's full one touch on a cab, and I even disconnected the battery, re-trained the switches - all no affect on the passenger up.
There's got to be a correlation to the failed microswitch... just want to order the right one before I tackle dismantling the door or latch.
Any help on the identification on which microswitch controls the window up after the 1cm drop upon opening/closing a door or touching the handle?
Thanks again for all the comments and advice.

Exact same issue with the passenger door on my Cayman. It's not the micro-switch, but the window regulator control module. This is the electrical component box that is attached to the window regulator motor. I purchased a used one off ebay, replaced it, and everything worked. To make the process easier, I removed the door panel and just loosened the window regulator without removing or detaching it. I just replaced the electrical module rather than the entire regulator/motor assembly.

There are some tutorials either here or on rennlist.

Good luck

jSM,
Thanks for the advice. So you just replaced the module and motor of the window regulator? I see quite a bit of motor/modules on eBay and very willing to try it out.

Unfortunately, I cannot find the exact threads that I used to help with the repair. I bought the regulator assembly from ebay and just replaced the electronic box from the part. The controller box is held on with 4 small plastic clips/retainers, 2 on each side. This was easy to remove from the part, but the back side clips made it a little more difficult on the original unit as I didn't fully remove it from the car. I just loosened the 3 screw enough to get a flat blade screw driver to release the clips on the back side.

The attached a pic to shows the part I removed and I circled the retaining clips. This part is only approx. $35 on ebay for the 987. The regulator for a 997 may be slightly different, so I'm not sure if they are interchangeable.

Jeff,
You are the shizz!! That was exactly it! I had to replace the control module motor assembly, and Voila!, my one touch up is working as expected! The part was just $45 from ebay... took a few minutes to install and my 997 cab is now complete!!
Thanks for the advise... If you're ever in Houston, look me up and I'll buy 1st rounds!

Fantastic! I was skeptical that such an easy process would solve the problem when I had the same issues. My Cayman had the issue when I bought the car, so I was able to knock another $400 off the price. Least expensive fix I've ever had on the car.
If I'm in Houston in the near future, I'll give you a shout. Cheers!

Jeff
