Oil Problem

I have had to add oil six times so far with only 2500 miles on the odometer. What's going on here? I hit 155 mph on the freeway the other night and the check oil light popped up immediately afterwards. I repeat, I have added oil six times! Is this a symptom of an RMS leak?

it is normal for the car to consume oil the first few thousand miles. consumption increases if you drive hard. once you pull the car from a parking space look for possible oil drops on the ground.
how much oil did you add in the six times?

I'm down 1/2 quart after 1200 miles. I think I am below the norm though. I have been reading that 1 quart after the first 1000 miles and 1/2 quart after the 2nd 1000 miles is about right for the 997.

Judge,
The question has already been asked. It not critical that you are using oil, what is more important is how MUCH oil you have had to add.
I am having similar consumption as 2THFIXR and I consider this normal.

Vincenzina,
Ciao Bella - I was on the 10 west heading towards Santa Monica. I was on Pico Blvd. with my girl when a silver 996 with an aerokit pulled up next to me at 1:30 in the morning. looked over and it was a hot *** blonde girl who happened to give me a weird national lampoons vacation kind of look. Next thing you know, she guns it and heads toward the freeway. Whats a man to do? I chased her down and couldn't control myself once i passed her. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt and my girl had the time of her life. She made me promise to teach her stick. I said sure, but not in my p-car. No way!

Seatbelt probably would not of helped at that speed. Probably just hold your dead body inside the wreck until the fire department got there with the jaws of life.

You know what's interesting. We are supposed to use 0-40W Mobil 1 in the 997. I figured, I am half a quart down so I need to get some. I could not find a single bottle after going to 4 different places. In fact, the one place that normally carries it didn't have any in stock and the others simply did not carry it. Eventually I found it at a auto parts place out of town. I probably could have saved myself a lot of aggravation and bought it at the dealership but..... every store I went into I was thinking. "They have to have it here?" Is this the norm for you guys? Or is just me and the Kern County thing.

Great news but the even better news is that I only need a quart! I might sprout some ***** and try to do an oil change myself but my main issue is that there is no dipstick.
