Thank you everyone for chiming in and sharing your feedback and experiences (along with the votes on the poll)
I went ahead and purchased the Fidelity Platinum 6 year/60K warranty.
Not to side track the topic but this week while taking my car in for its first Smog test for CA registration renewal, the car failed due to "catalyst status" and "EGR status" readings coming back "not ready" on the OBD scan.
The car is currently with my local dealer and they have not yet figured out why this is coming up, without those readings my Smog can't be passed.
My car has no catalytic or full exhaust mods - only a Sharkwerks bypass and side muffler fister/gundo bypass mod, which are all downstream and should not affect emissions testing.
With this in mind and with my warranty expiring July 15th, I felt that these aare part of the unexpected things which could happen on our 997.2 cars (perhaps also premonition for me to purchase the extended warranty as well)
Pending what work the dealer might have to perform to make things right, shop time for diagnosis and fixing any issue could easily rack up costs.
Thanks everyone and best to all of you who are still on the fence about extended warranties
