it seems that there is a design problem with the Oem tails of the 997.2 scratches develop inside the lens that cannot be buffed out!! Looks really bad I'm wondering if there is an aftermarket alternative. Don't want to loose Oem look so looking for exactly same thing but hopefully without that design problem and more reasonable than the oem. The problem seems also to affect panamera tails. I've seen some with the same problem

Sure. Here it is. Buffing does not do anything

 

The marks are all inside the lens. How the heck do you get those things?!! It's for sure a design defect. The lights were not properly designed to withstand the heat from the engine bay and probably uv and humidity.

 

I just ran out to the garage to double check my tails.

From the pic, it looks like the chrome trim inside the lights are eroding. Did you take it to Porsche?

 

It seems that way but looking really closely its on the lens. Really ugly.
