Purchased a Fidelity Warranty
I have always been anti extended warranty on cars, lawnmowers, washing machine, etc. Today I purchased a three year Fidelity extended warranty on my 2011 Porsche 911 4S. The high cost of repairs on these cars scares the hell out of me. If anything it will help me sleep at nights. Also, I can keep the car for a few more years and not be paranoid about repairs costs.

Totally agree with you both. I bought the Platinum Fidelity taking my car to January 2019 or 109,000 miles. The cost was about $4K 3 years ago. I have not needed it (knock on wood) but it appears we will be selling the 4S within the next 12 months. I like that when I do list it to sell, the car will still have 3 years remaining and is fully transferable. Makes it a no-brainer for a potential buyer.

Just read on fidelity site that you should take car for repairs to where you purchased contract. I'm assuming that is not required as I see people buying them thru vw dealers or Hondas or out of state. Any issue anyone run into not buying thru servicing dealer when trying to get service?

When I bought my pre-owned 911S six years ago I decided to get an extended warranty for peace of mind. The car had 3,500 miles, it was 3 years old, and I bought it from Porsche dealership. I also bought an Easy Care TotalCare extended warranty from the dealer.
I paid $3,500 for 6 years coverage with $100 deductible. This warranty will expire in two months, and I have never had to use it.
I am now wondering if it makes sense for me to get another extended warranty. When I called Easy Care, they want a lot more money to insure my car with 11,000 miles:
- Primary Care: $3,500 for 3 yrs or 35K miles, $250 deductible
- Stated Care: $7500 for 5 years, $250 deductible
- Total Care: $11,000 for 5 years, $350 deductible (This is the one I paid $3,500 six years ago)
Porsche dealer is now suggesting I buy CNA extended warranty. However, when I did a search on customer reviews on CNA, there were not very positive. Quotes I got from Porsche dealer on CNA were:
- $3,800 for 4 yrs or 48K miles
- $4,700 for 5 yrs or 60K miles
Do you mind telling me how much you paid for your Fidelity extended warranty?
I have not yet decided if I will get another extended warranty, or live without one.

AS you mentioned, your price quote will depend on you car year, mileage, and current warranty status (warrantied or out of warranty etc) - so it's not apples to apples what my cost and anyone else's cost might be compared to yours..
I recommend you getting quotes from a few dealers Porsche and any other which offer the warranty i.e. Honda Audi Chevy and see what's the best you can get.
I will say that I purchased mine from Elliot Dawson at Circle Porsche in Huntington Beach- very professional and easy transaction, where I got the best quote. Give him a try providing you car year, miles, and VIN to compare quotes.
Hope that helps,

I've gone a different route. The CPO warranty on my '08 911S Cab expires next month. I started looking around at extended warranties, but with 58,000 miles on an (albeit pristine) '08 911, the prices they quoted me were roughly what it would cost to put a down payment on a house anywhere but in Los Angeles.
So, I took the car to my local dealer and had a heart-to-heart talk with both my service advisor and my preferred mechanic about replacing certain major items that are likely to go wrong after the warranty expires -- while still under warranty.
Result: They're replacing the water pump (wasn't leaking but was a bit noisy), the alternator cables (slow start when hot, you see), four new TPMS sensors, and some other stuff that necessitates their keeping the car for four days. About which I'm not complaining, since they gave me a brand new (500 miles on it) Cayenne to drive in the meantime.
Excellent dealer, amazing car, I remain loyal to both. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all this "preventive maintenance" will keep my pristine 911 in good health for years to come.

I'd like to add my .02!
I purchased my fidelity platinum through Rick at Scottsdale Porsche, 5yr/60k $4800.. This was on an 07 Turbo with 16,700.. Next pricing tier is 17k miles. This was done 3 weeks ago, his prices were the most competitive I had seen from shopping around 5 other dealers around the Country.

It seems most of time these warranties go unused. However, for me, it was peace of mind first and a selling/buying incentive next. I believe most buyers are comforted in knowing the car has a warranty. My car will likely be on the market in the next 12 months, leaving about 3 years of warranty on it.
