997 reached it pinnacle?

Mercedes are the worst. In 7 years an S 600 dropped about 80%!in value.
At least a 3 yr old Porsche will be less of a hit, and a 6 or 7 yr. old will lose that much less as it begins to plateau in value...

Money being no object, for every 991 available for sale, I can think of a 997 I'd rather have. I just have no desire to own a PDK-equipped car, and in fact I think I'd take a new Cayman GTS/GT4 before a 911. Once you get into the $100-200k range, there's an awful lot of cars I would consider alongside Porsche. In the $40-50k range where I bought my 997, not much other than perhaps an E92 M3 or TT RS can compete for a total-package performance car.

What this gentleman said in spades.
No disrespect ment for 991.
No disrespect ment for 991.
My '09 Carrera S was my first new brand new Porsche (previous century 356 driver) and I feel fortunate to have stumbled into the dealership that day "just to look". The increase in size of the 991 and the "universal" Porsche cascading console turn me off from wanting a newer 911. I covet my 6 speed like the neanderthal that I am, I don't need 20" wheels, and I think I already have enough electronic nannies to keep me safe. My bucket list does include a GT3 (some day) but it has to be a manual (hear me grunt like a caveman!!).

so are you saying 997.2 should not be dropping much further in value if kept low mileage and great condition?
