Angry 2009 C4S - Need new transmission at 44,000 miles!

Hello. I am completely new to this. My best friend's husband seems to browse this site quite often, so I thought I'd give it a shot for some advice. I have a 2009 C4S with about 44,000 miles on it. I am out of warranty and was recently told that I need a new transmission that will cost over $20K. I can't understand how a Porsche can need a new transmission after only 44,000 miles. Has anyone else ever encountered this? I called Porsche North America and they opened a "case," but I have no idea what that actually means. I think they should pay for my new transmission and protect their brand. How would you guys handle this?

Who diagnosed that you would need a new transmission?

I would get a 2nd, independent non-dealer opinion.

This is actually the 3rd or 4th case I've read on either 6speed or rennlist. The first year PDK had issues, like our IMS, it's not widespread. It happens to a select few. Unlike the OP, it broke under warranty and fixed by PCNA. Hopefully, the OP gets something from PCNA.

This is unacceptable to have PDK system failure at 44k miles. This is not new to us either, I've heard Solfware malfunction could lead to total replacement due to North America mechanics are not train to fix PDK issue hence the entire unit must be replace and the old PDK system sent back to Germany for repair and possible reuse in future. They make customer pay in full then use the old part again??? Is it possible?

Porsche North America just told me they can't do anything to help me. They weren't even being apologetic about it. Their argument is that I'm out of warranty and it's not their problem. I am so disappointed by Porsche right now.

Not surprised by PCNA's response. Exactly what should be expected given how they've dealt with the IMS fiasco. The PDK on my -09 C4S failed too at just shy 0f 40,000 miles but I had an extended warranty that covered it. The warranty company fought hard to get something from PCNA but got nothing. $20K is too much though. My replacement tab was $14K and was done by a Porsche dealership.

Give us all some specifics. Are you the original owner? Is there a maintenance history? Was there evidence of abuse? Was it tracked?

The OP gives only a first comment on 6sd on a six year old car. I want to be upset but what's the back story?
