2nd Gear "Grind"

Forgive me - I'm not trying to sling an arrow, but isn't clutch pedal heaviness more associated with the pressure plate (the thing with the finger springs) rather than the level of wear on the clutch/friction disc? On non-self-adjusting systems, a sign of friction disc wear is the change in engagement point of the clutch, as noticed at the clutch foot pedal.

I was told that the heavier the clutch pedal the more wear on the plate. As evident on the pics.
There was no slippage from the clutch but the wear of the clutch just have been done prior to my ownership. It's always been heavy but salesmen dismissed it when I inquired. First Porsche I didn't know better. Then when I had my syncro issue the dealer then said that the clutch was worn and needed replacement.
The service advisor told me as Porsche clutches wear they get heavier and heavier. That's signs of wear. Lesson learned I guess for me. If someone with more experience can chime in that would be great, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
