BassLink - visual and audio test
Upgrading my speaker a few months back gave me satisfaction --- well, for a while. As expected, being a music lover, a terribly missed the bass. I was planning on building a custom box. But with time constraint, I decided to temporarily use my existing BassLink till I find time for a custom box.
I just completed the temporary installation and I am glad that I did.
Now, I believe that my audio range is complete. I played it for 20 minutes with no issues. Most of all, as expected, I now tend to use less volume to have full enjoyment. I'm no expert but I think less volume equates to less strain on the factory amps.
IMO, we can upgrade our speakers all we want all the way up to the most expensive components, but without bass, the audio range will never be complete. Believe me, just adding the bass feels and sounds as if I just installed a new and expensive system.
For those of you who are thinking about adding bass, using custom box, bazooka, BassLink, etc. here are some steps to assist you:

Adding the dedicated lines proved to be the challenge. However, I finally settled to drilling a hole. Hopefully, this info is new to everyone.
Use the location below and ensure you add a grommet. Note: I would have added a negative line along with the positive line. I will someday, but for this time, I skipped that process.

Remove the factory amp and tap into the orange and white lines. The Orange lines are the speaker input and the white line is for remote power. Note that with my setup, the factory sub remains functional and will continue to work in conjunction with the BassLink.

I did not use a line output converter for this project. Using my multimeter, I noticed that the signal from the Orange lines is super low. I then decided to convert that signal into 4 RCA lines. The BassLink has 4 low level inputs: as I connect each one, the bass incrementally got louder.

I must be missing something because I don't see the basslink in your finished picture. Maybe that is a good thing or I am simply blind? Is it wedged right behind the passenger seat, sitting on the floor?
Also, noticed that your seat belt pieces near the B-pillar are pretty oxidized. Mine are too and cracked..not sure what caused that with only 45K miles. But in case I am replacing my belts altogether to address. Just FYI.

It's there in the pic just sitting on the floor. It's wedged behind the passenger seat. I took out the unit's feet to lower it further.
Let me take a look at the seatbelt piece tonite. I seldom go in that area. Hopefully it's just the flash.

Looking good cab. That thing is hidden. I wish I had that space to spare too. How did you connect the 2 pairs of rca? Did you just solder 2 pairs of coax to The lines from the sub connector. I remember I used speaker level input to the basslink. Which input did you use?

I just connected them to the Orange lines coming into the factory sub box. You know, the signal into the factory box is way way low --- if you connected them to the high level input (speaker level), I wonder if you even experienced "real sub sound" from the BassLink! Even then, you were feeding the BassLink with just one (1) input!!!!
As I previously mentioned, the BassLink sub output incrementally increased from 1 RCA input, 2 inputs, 3 inputs and finally all 4 inputs. I actually had to adjust the BassLink output via the control ****.

Took the 60 mile (3 hr) drive today and no issues. Man, I again enjoyed listening to "freek-a-leek, yeah!, lose yourself, hey baby, give me everything.... Hehehe
I really felt as if I just spent more more more $$ into a new system even though I just added the sub.
As I recall, after upgrading to the 8" Focal speakers,
I immediately knew that I was kidding myself to think that the sub would not be needed with just the speaker upgrade. Now, I don't have to kid/fool myself.

I just checked and you are correct. That film is like the white film that you see on new tires. I went ahead and applied leather conditioner and it appears to have disappeared. I'll check again tomorrow and see if I need to be a little more aggressive by applying polish and wax.

Rick,
You could also have done what I did before: bullet connections quick-disconnect. I had a sub in my cab using bullet quick-disconnect. I was able to disconnect to make room in seconds. Reconnection was also in seconds.
Something for you to reconsider.

That's what i had . Connecting and reconnecting was easy. but really, connect and reconnect pull out, put back in. Sounded good but had to go. Quite happy with my current setup now. I did not use the 8" focal a because the efficiency would go down. I stuck with the oem subs. And they produce, mixed with the lower efficiency focal so for the highs and mids
