My car absolutely broke down for no reason. In addition, I have added oil over 7 times. I've lost count. Its at BevHills Porsche/Audi for service. The service rep drove the car and could not believe it himself. The car has 3000 miles. I'm a little heated at this moment. But I'll let you know whats wrong with it tomorrow.

I added a 1/2 quart of oil to my 996 TT every couple thousand miles until I hit about 7,000 miles. GT3 used oil when new as well. Unlike BMW and other cars, Porsche cars love oil on break-in.
Good luck to you.

Judge, I'm a new P car owner and everyone I talk to that has owned P cars for a long time say that the oil issue goes away after a few thousand miles. (so long as you are not leaking oil) I brought my new 997s in last week with only 1,200 miles and had to have the dealer add oil.
Heads up man, wait a bit before getting too bummed. You have a while before the warranty is gone. Enjoy and let God take care of the details !

Ok, its official. I have given rise to the first 3,07d lb. lemon. The service advisor told me that although after driving the car himself and noticing that the car was basically undriveable, sputtering and acting weird; the mechanics could not find anything wrong with it. The computer tests were fine and the car is running fine now. I had to have the poor thing towed. It looks like I'll be going back to service soon. There is no way that this "problem" just disappeared.
BTW- DJ, love the avatar; its truly an honor.

Judge.
Things you describe really scare me. The tech couldn't find the problem? It remind me of an incident I had with my old slant nose. Very similar symptoms and the tech couldn't locate it. However this only happened once and the problem never manifested itself again.
Could someone have put some "junk" in your gas tank?
Keep us posted.

Judge, If you let us know exactly what the symptons are it is possible that we could help diagnoise. Let us know what she is doing, but right off hand I would say a fuel/oxygen sensor got temporarily stuck open. Happened to me after a hard drive and then settled back down, basically unhooked the negative battery cable for thirty minutes and then re-hooked. Forced the computer to reset itself. Good Luck..

Air- cooled,
According to the Porsche dealership my slant was one of two purchased by some Hollywood celebrity-one for him and one for his brother. It was a white cab with Can Can leather interior and custom exhausts (loud). The car was a 92. I drove it for 2 years and traded it in for a 2000 Millenium 996. Dealer says the original owner had put over $25,000 in the car, back in 1992. Sat very low and WIDE. Wish I had kept it. All metal.
