Between a rock and a hard place

The 2010 997 for the simple reason that there are too many things I don't like about the 991 including its looks. Many others feel the same way which is evident in how close these two cars are in price. The 3 year younger 991 with only 9,200 miles and a $4,500 PDK option is only $8K more. I know it's a non S but still....

Although conventional wisdom says "buy the newest one you can afford", I have to say -- pick the one that feels special.
In this case, a stick shift convertible with good power and hydraulic steering is an endangered species. An automatic car with electric steering is just gonna be succeeded by something newer / better but similar.
In a few years time, one of these cars will feel old and disposable, the other one old but irreplaceable.

Wondering if I should drive a 2012 - 2013 and see how much difference. Any member driving a 2010 S and compared with a 2012 - 2013 S?
Btw. Thank you all for your reply, I appreciate the input and advise.

Choice between a 991 and a 997 is a tough one. However, this is a bit like apples and oranges. Please keep in mind these aren't the only 2 cars on the planet. Buying a Porsche is an adventure. It doesn't happen in a week. Narrow down what you want, 997 or 991. Decide on a color and must have options. Then start the hunt. For this reason, many dealers are happy to ship cars, so don't be afraid to expand your search. Good luck!
