ebrake snapped and my 997 rolled into a hydrant!!!!!!

I don't know what happened, but I ran into my house and I hear a huge bang and turn around to see the car in a hydrant. Can anyone here recommend a good bodyshop in NY/NJ area? I need a new engine lid and reinforcement.

don't mean to be an ***, but you should've parked the car in gear. Always.

You can't have the car parked while RUNNING in gear

Sounds like a mechanical failure. If so, would warranty cover the damage?

I fixed most of it already it my garage. I need a rear bumper and engine lid everything else is ok. Anyone on here know a good place to get the stuff painted? That is my only concern I dont want a MAACO paint job on my car..

I am going to show porsche the ebrake problem. I put the ebrake on b4 and was able to push my car with ease on flat surface.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about the mishap. Please keep us posted on what you find out about the e-brake.

On the parking in gear note: I always park in 2ND w/ handbrake on instead of 1st gear. It's more difficult for the car to roll off on it's own on a steep incline.

I'm thinking the gear ratio of 1st is higher, giving the car more holding capacity over 2nd. Stop on a hill (stay in the car), put car in 2nd, leave handbrake off, and you may feel the car roll through the compression of the motor as it chugs backwards. If it's a big enough hill, it might even happen in first.
