Plugging brake hard lines

Does anyone know if foam such as ear plugs or silicone putty would be ideal to plug brake hard lines? Would brake fluid eat this material? The lines would be plugged for around 1 week too while I rebuild and repaint the calipers.

Cheers

I wouldn't use those - brake fluid will likely degrade those materials. If you can't find an appropriate brake line plug just make one with a small amount of fuel hose and a tight fitting bolt on the end. It will be fine for a week, no problem.

Ok, do you know the diameter the fuel hose should be?

Sorry, don't as I haven't done this in the Porsche. If you don't want to measure in advance, just buy a foot of 1/4", 1/2", and 3/8" tubing from the auto parts store. Doesn't even need to be fuel line...just rubber tubing. My guess is 3/8" but is a wild guess. It will be probably $1/ft. Then find a few bolts/screws at home (or buy a couple loose ones at hardware store) that fit very tight (require some stretch) on the hose.

Actually I have new flex lines already that I am replacing, i guess something that would fit tightly inside the flex line connection would work right?

Golf tee and secure them upwards (loose wire tie or such)?

golf tee is a good idea... though I'd be worried it would strip the paint off the tees and I'd get that in the system.

This is the line I have to remove first I think, right behind the caliper. I wonder how much fluid is going to pour out before I can plug it. I might have to have a few different plugs ready to go just in case one doesnt work.

This is what It will look like when I remove the flex line - If only I knew the exact diameter I could have the right width of tubing ready.

nismopowered is infamous around these parts
Normally the shops I have worked in just use rubber vacuum caps. I think 1/4 or something. Fits tight around the flare. Of course the longest we used them for is maybe 4 days or so. But the ones I have I have used dozens of times and they are still in good shape.

This. I have an assortment of sizes and always work ok. You do have to move the flare nut back about 1/2" to put them on the flare.

I ended up doing it this way, used a 4mm ID hose plus large bolt -
