997 NAVIGATION... install... components...etc
I have a 2008 c4s (w/ Bose). Purchased with no nav/no phone module.
If I want to install nav/phone by using a nav system taken from another 997... What components do I need?
a) Main console?
b) wires?
c) gps stuff (anntenna..etc)
Any useful information would be helpful. thank you.

I think Bruce in Philly recently posted a link to a 997.1 (2008) factory parts manual. You may be able to pick through it to find the parts you'll need.
I know you want to stay with OEM - the most recent navigation DVD-based version is pretty old (therefore won't have new roads and such), and costly. I went with an aftermarket Garmin unit despite having the factory NAV/PCM 2.1.

+1. OEM unit is not up to par in most opinions. It appears to me that the OP may be getting a Head Unit for free and wants to install it due to an opportunity. Can't blame someone for that.
I still say...Go get an App radio from Pioneer that will link to your phone. They work for Droid and IOS. You use the nav on your phone with Bluetooth streaming as well as your music. Install a mic and your handsfree.
If you are really a wrencher and enjoy getting involved in projects like this, I guess going with the OEM is cool. I just see a bunch a issues that can arise doing it on your own. I have the OEM Nav and I can't wait to get it out and install an App radio. I have Tranzit Blu right now to get by.
I purchased the newest CD for Nav. Waste of $$. Doubt you will see any benefit in switching out your stock radio to the PCM. Not to mention that there are features the PCM has that need to be activated once the head unit is installed. Do you have a OBD cable to program or know someone who does that can do it? That won't be cheap either if you have to go to the dealer.
Guess it's a good question...has anyone ever done this switch? I see a bottle of Advil needed for that job!!
