Check Engine Visit Workshop Light On 997 C2

Hi everyone,

I picked up the car last week and have loved it, amazing machine.

However last night I was driving home from work and this 'Check Engine Visit Workshop' sign came on the screen and a yellow engine light started flashing for a few seconds and then stayed on after that.

Also I've noted that the car when idle or stopped is juddering somewhat.

I have got warranty from the dealer but I would like to know what it is before I go in so I can get it done quickly.

Bit disappointing something has gone wrong so quickly but would appreciate responses.

Loose gas cap can prompt check engine light, best thing to do is to hook it up to durametric and see what code the car is giving out, hopefully something simple.

Hi Cheers.

Yeah I took it to the Porsche dealer and they saw it was an ignition coil and sorted it out.

Hopefully it runs well hence forth.

Enjoying the car.

Was just going to say sounds like an ignition coil. Had the same thing happen to me many, many miles ago.

Earlier this week I had all six replaced with plugs as the car was throwing codes for a misfire.

Good luck with the car! Hope you have many miles of enjoyment.

I had the same thing happen to my 997.1 4S. I've been enjoying my 996.2 4S because its dirty and the weather has been crap in seattle as always. Haven't driven the 997 4S in a few weeks and turned the car on and did the same thing. Did an OBDII read and misfire on 1 and 5. Just had the spark plugs and coilpacks replaced at the Porsche dealer less then a year ago.

Cleared the codes and took the car for a brief drive and didn't come back. Been sitting around again for a few days and I'm getting antsy to drive it after putting on the X51 headers and a fresh oil change. Weather is supposed to clear on Saturday. Time to go drive.
