Buying a used C2s: 991 or 997?
#16
The kids can stay behind and work the garage door buttons.
Seriously - it could work, big kid up front, little one gets the rears. Any kids in the roof box is going to be frowned upon by the local authorities.
I'd say 991 - if possible 'cause it's got more room - not much, but still. And doesn't sound like someone who'd want to deal with aftermarket warranties, outdated tech, mods, etc. A base 991 MT (non "S" car) could probably be found for a decent price. Unless they are trying to, and can, kill it at the track or have ego requirements, they won't need the "S".
997.1 to 997.2 is big difference as is to 991.1 - for daily driver, newer, warranty, etc, seems better. And they need to live near a dealer - no spare=PITA if a flat and they don't want that while dragging the kids along - especially if a long distance flatbed is involved - it sucks; been there, done that.
I appreciate the resolve to go 911 - courage!, but a BMW might be a better choice.

OP, I know it is not what you are asking but I'll offer another perspective.
With nothing else in mind, I would look for a earlier used 997 Turbo if the driver is into cars. If the driver is into look and interior than the 991 is the way to go. Newer style and better interior. Although some people (myself included) still think that the 997 had a nicer looking rear.

Hoping she keeps it around and finds it to be a good DD: I want to borrow it on occasion!
