cause they don't want you to wrap the car around a pole in the first 100 miles.... i'd bet you a dollar it's the lawyers that write the break in rules.

explain to me "scientifically" why you need to break an engine in then? what does it accomplish?

i personally have seen bikes dyno'd that have been broken in and bikes that have been driven hard from day one. the bikes ridden hard always dyno higher and have no oil blow by issues.

colonel is infamous around these parts
re: break-in

With all these talks about break-in or not. I think people forget that one important thing. Do not rev at high RPM range with a cold engine.

The point is no one has come up with empirical proof. It's all "IMO" and "I have seen" or "I bet it's the lawyers" but no impartial unbiased facts. It could of course be the engineers and not the lawyers at all, but you have no proof.

If you have empirical data, then show them. How difficult can that be?

But there again if people want to disregard that empirical data that's up to them...
Show me the empirical data then!!! I have not seen it from Porsche either!!!

I'm with LeChef, all these antidoctal stories mean nothing, I repeat my question: why would Porsche, who wants nothing more than to make there buyers happy (spelled "make more money") publish these break in guides if it was not for the good of the car?
Warranty costs! That's why...they would rather have them break out of warranty!
