Mufflers or High-flow CAT first ?

Want to do either Mufflers or High-flow CAT this summer and not sure which one I should do first. I want to do the one that would yield a tiny bit more power first. Anyone know if the OEM mufflers or the CAT pipes on a 997.1 put more restriction on exhaust flow ?

I also want to gradually increase the sound volume so don't want to do both high flow CAT and mufflers in one shoot. TIA

Mufflers are generally sound only. High flow cats will open up the exhaust giving some gains. I'd spend the money on cats, then modify the OEM mufflers with a Gundo hack for sound. The muffler mod is relatively inexpensive - could be done locally for less than $200 if you do the install work.

+1 on Cats first for performance ..... Muffler mods will be more sound, but Cats will increase the exhaust flow for more performance gains than a muffler mod. But be ware of the emissions requirements in your state due to the O2 spacers that you may (or may not) need to add in case your new Cats start throwing any error codes.... But you'll LOVE the change in your car

Yeah, I was thinking I should be doing High-flow CAT first (for power) but all these aftermarket exhaust vendor claiming HP/TQ gain from their mufflers alone are throwing curves in my thinking....LOL....

Thanks for re-affirming my thinking.

So what models to buy?

Because the SharkWerks guide got me thinking its so simple.
http://sharkwerks.com/porsche/porsch...09-2012-a.html

Considering the trouble-free, affordable and relatively easy ways to add nearly 20 HP to these cars, we do not recommend tinkering with the headers. You will likely find the persistent check engine light ruins the enjoyment of the car and you're taking a gamble to modify the most important part of the vehicle's emission equipment.

Thanks for the SharkWerks link but I have a 997.1 and it doesn't have a center muffler and the CAT are not part of the header so the situation might be different. Too bad SharkWerks doesn't have a tuning guide for 997.1
