How unfortunate

Very sorry to hear about your losses, but in the grand scheme of things everyone is safe which is most important, and items can be replaced, hope all works out for you and your family, and your back in the saddle soon !

Man, that's awful. Glad that no-one was hurt. Give us a list of the 997 features and options you were seeking out and we'll help you find a replacement.

The one upside is your wife can now get a Cayenne or Macan that won't spontaneously combust...just trying to lighten the depressing photos.

Kudos to your daughter's quick thinking to close the door too !

Thanks Petza914, I got a great deal from the seller (he was trying to get rid of it). Here is the sticker, now I have to convince the insurance company to find me a replacement and not have to worry about the right deal or price.

It is kind of blurred and the original was inside the car, maybe the glove compartment saved it

Price range? I'm assuming mid to upper $40s or is that low for a cab? Mileage limit?

As I mentioned, I got a "great" deal. 53k miles, PPI was OK (it did mention that they would need to investigate the top further but it was working) and the wheels were in bad shape (lots of curb rash, not structural) and tires were at 0-10% left. It was listed for $40k but I was able to negotiate it down to $33k cash so I have enough to replace the wheels & tires (ended up being almost $4k) and the "unknown" condition of the top. I was trying not to get anything over 40k miles. I've owned 2 before (I had to replace the transmission & clutch on a 996 for $8k) so I think ~40k miles is a good spot. But after 9 months of looking, I compromised on the 52k miles for a good price

The important bits were: black/black/black, convertible, "S", sport package with chrono, ~40k miles. The nice-to-have features were the "4", prefer stick but automatic OK

Here's a few. If not quite right, at least you'll have some comps you can show the insurance company. If open to other colors besides black on black with black, let us know.

Got it. At this point, purchase price shouldn't matter, as your policy should be for replacement value on a comparable car, so 997.1 triple black cab, with MT (tips may be cheaper). It's all going to be how you negotiate the settlement and based on the quick search I just did, it should be in the low 50s.

A few of the l inks that I sent you might be a fit. I'd also try to get Full Leather if you can.

Thank you so much Petza914! I will definitely send these over to the car insurance person that is asking me for the receipts and whatever records I have.

My home insurance and car insurance is with Farmers so hopefully they will see this through. I spoke to our home insurance adjuster this morning. Our damages are above the first tier (the one-and-done visit) and now we are on the "2nd tier" major damage category. That triggers some sort of personal property coverage that (apparently) goes up to $350k. This is in addition to the building structure which is like almost $480k (+25% allowed overage).

I told the home insurance guy that the only material possession I care about in the entire house is the Porsche so I am hoping that if price becomes an issue, the house coverage can help the car coverage.

Wow, that is truly awful. I'm honestly surprised to hear the Lexus caught fire and not the 911; heard about a few Porsches going up in flames but never an RX! Glad everyone is OK.
