I know this has been beaten to death but I just bought a 27000 mile 2007 911 and would like to investigate a third party warranty. Carchex gave a reasonable quote but nowhere can I find folks who have had claims paid satisfactorily. Does anyone actually have dealings with a third party that they have had fair claims resolution? Of course I'm fearful of the IMS issue because I'm just that I am that kind of guy. Don't wanna tell my wife the new engine is $25k.

My indy "porsche-only" mechanic (James at Redline in Orange, CA) says he has been getting checks from Mercury Insurance Mechanical Breakdown Policy http://www.mercuryinsurance.com/insu...rotection.html but I have not had first hand experience. That is the company he recommended when I was asking around what he is seeing out there. I left a message for an agent (using the zip code finder) but never heard back so ...

Mercury was great. They covered the alternator cable, water pump, cv joint, full PCM replacement, probably some other stuff too. Unfortunately, I could not get them to quote on an 09. They might have dropped Porsche all together. In fact, the only quote I could get was a ridiculous $10k. Look for a CPO if you really care about a warranty.

I have EasyCare I bought through the dealer a few years ago.
They've bought me a steering rack and a TPMS control module (not the bit in the wheel, but the part in the car controlling them). I have 2 years left on it (5 years originally) and it's over half way paid for itself.

I think EasyCare is run by Penske. I did have to have an inspection to get the agreement.

Fidelity, covered approximately 16 grand in various repairs in just 18 months and i still got some money back when i sold the car and canceled policy early.
make sure you get top tear policy and person that knows their stuff calls when filing a claim.
