6 months with my 997.2s - couple issues...
#16
My car used to honk once when locked, twice when unlocked. This is not standard with 997.1. The dealer I bought from even told me not sure how previous owner got that done. Month back I got it detailed at professional detail shop. When they detail, they remove the battery. Ever since I have the same crappy silence as everyone else. The dealer I take it asked if I was sure it honked, they had never heard anyone getting theirs to do this. I said yes, trying to find out how previous owner got it done. Miss it badly...

Thank you! They claim only took out battery. Evidently they do this to all cars. Where would look if not in the fuse box area? Thanks.

I really do not see the need for a car to honk every time you lock/unlock it other than to annoy everyone else. Nothing worse than sitting at an outdoor cafe and having a bunch of idiotic horns and car alarms going off while you try to have a conversation or enjoy a meal.

I remember seing on my 997.2, a auto locking option in the pcm options.
Try activating it, see if that helps.
I know is did for me.
I really don't like having to use the same button to lock and unlock the doors.
as if you press twice, u just unlocked and waking away.
can be frustrating to walk back closer to check if its locked.

Automatic door locking
Your authorized Porsche dealer can program diverse
types of automatic door locking in the control
unit of the central locking system:
Type 1
Doors lock automatically when the ignition is
switched on.
Type 2
Doors lock automatically when a speed of
3 - 6 mph (5 - 10 km/h) is exceeded.
Type 3
Doors lock automatically when the ignition is
switched on. If doors are opened with the engine
running, they lock again automatically when a
speed of 3 - 6 mph (5 - 10 km/h) is exceeded.
Type 4
The doors do not lock automatically
No relationship between these features and using the remote to arm/lock the car.
BTW, if you accidentally press the lock button twice on the remote and walk away without opening any door, your car will lock itself if by chance your button pushing unlocked the car - no need to walk back. Try it.

Each of these modules can be put into a workshop diagnostic mode that inactivates the module, which might have been triggered when the battery was replaced. You can access/change this setting using the OBC control stalk, using instructions on the Mods4Cars website. I'd try this before trying to diagnose the hardware.
Good Luck.
