997 leasing & dealers
1) anyone have any experience on how porsche the 997 leases work?
here's the scenario: wanted to a do a short 36 month lease, but the payments are so high. the dealer insists on doing a 48 and/or even 60-month lease and gettin out in 2 1/2 years w/ equity in the car. assuming that the residual is low enuff that you can make money on selling the car privately on your own or trading the car in.
2) anyone have good/bad experience w/ soCal or noCal porsche dealers?
any help would be greatly appreciated! thx!

I think there are porsche dealership that uses Chase, Bank of the West for leasing, also go to a porsche dealer that sells audi they might be able to use Volkswagen financing they have better rates..

i don't think you can assume any significant equity after 2-3 years. you would be happy to just get out of the lease without any thing out of your pocket on most standard leasing with minimum drive off.

hear ya, agreed....
was thinking break-even at best, right?! just dont wanna lose my shirt to get out of a lease in 2-3 years. another dealer tryin to pitch me, just hate to lock in for 48/60 months.
thx!

i think 5 year lease is usually a bad idea. for start, you will be leasing a car without warranty and if something bad happens you still stuck with it.
most leases are designed to brake even at the full term as they predict the market value in the future. so i usually consider myself luck when get out even. some people put down more money to achevie this. but the money ultimately came out of your pocket...
good luck. where you located? i have gotten some numbers from socal dealers if you are interested.

I have seen Porsches ouperform their residuals, but only after the full term of the lease. Trying to extricate yourself from a 48-60 mos contract after 2-3 years IMHO isn't going to be break even situation.
I'm sure you know the dealer is not going to look out for your best interest and his advice here is pretty transparent. Lots of options though, I would look a lot of other places before I use PFS.

reply: yeah i hear ya, good point. can one look at other banks for lease rates. i thought the dealer does that. every dealer ive talked to say the best lease is the 48 months. do you agree?

what 997 are you trying to lease? what are they quoting you? Call this guy Mike Emry 281-772-3313, he works for an independent leasing company, they beat almost every dealer's lease programs(especially porsche, I was talking to him today and mentioned this thread, he said he definitely beats porsche's, chases or bank of the west's programs). Tell him Amil sent you.

ive used leasecompare.com, like it..... dealers always tryin to stick me w/ extra fees on drive off, i aint buying it.
m45 is a hot car, tried out the comparables and this is the one for the price range. im a huge bmw fan and the 530 didnt have the kick that the m45 did. bmw still edges it out in handling tho. but you get a lot of hi-tech stuff for less, plus the new styling is refreshing. i think infiniti is comin up w/ some good cars (also g35).

Found the 997S I'd been looking for. I got a lease quote from PFS, a local LA bank, and so far leasecompare.com has the best deals.
My accountants recommend a 36 month lease max, with minimum drive off
