Just a layer of protection is needed, not necessary for outdoor/weather protection.

I purchased a Porsche indoor car cover for my '06 C2S w/ Aerokit from /www.suncoastparts.com/ I'm not positive if the body of your 997.2 GTS is much different from my 997.1 C2S, but if it's close this should fit perfect. The cover is very soft and stretchy. Fits super snug... In my opinion, it was worth every penny. I'll post pics of mine with the car cover and a side profile without. Hopefully this helps.

BTW, it was around $285 and shipped pretty quick.

 

GTS is a wide body so the C2 version may be a little snug.
