Playing songs in 997.2
I would like to shuffle songs in my 2011 GTS 911, the local stations are dreadful.
Seems like there are two simple fixes.
1. Burn a CD and shuffle.
2. An iPod hook up. I'd like to go with this option but haven't found an easy solution from reading the threads.
I'm not up on audio and would like to plug and play.
Any thoughts??

Plug your phone into the auxiliary jack and play music from it or other apps like Pandora, Spotify, Amazon music, etc, or plug in a Bluetooth receiver that connects to your phone and stream the music to it.

Pete... I tried going the AUX port route but no joy.
Mine is a 997.2 with the factory installed iPod kit but when I press the "Sources" button on the PCM the AUX option is not present.
The selections on the PCM are: AM, FM, CD, USB but no AUX even though the jack is present under the armrest.

I bought this retracting one from Amazon and it works perfectly
- plug USB into the extra 12v outlet I installed in the front of my seat for charging (so I don't need to leave the ashtray open to get to the only lighter plug in the Cayenne) and plug the audio cord from the jack on my phone into the AUX audio cord jack. Maybe AUX only shows up as selectable if something is plugged into the jack. I'm an android guy though - maybe the iPhone doesn't have an audio out jack any longer and it's just the one multi-plug. One alternative would be to buy an old apple or android phone or ipod and just use it for audio.
If you have a friend with a phone that has a 3.5mm jack and you can do a test to see if that works, then you should be able to get my other idea to also work, which is to use a BT receiver plugged into the audio jack.
Once I get the Cayenne back from the body shop, I'm going to buy one of these bluetooth receivers
that plugs in the same way and then I'll be able to stream BT music from my phone to the receiver which plays it through the aux jack instead of having to plug my phone in directly.

Pete, thank you for your prompt and informative reply... as you always do!
I was able to find/fix (I think) why my PCM did not give the AUX option. I simply removed the PCM & BOSE fuses (D9 and D10) and put them back in thereby forcing what I presume was a reset.
I connected a Nulaxy Bluetooth Receiver that I bought on Amazon (~$16.00) and it works like a charm. So now I'm able to access/play my 6,800+ songs that are on my Samsung phone.
Once again... much obliged for your help and insight.

Yep, you should have no problem...
I was also able to configure two bluetooth devices on my Samsung S7 phone being that I also have a Jabra hands free device to make/answer my calls.
The S7 allows the configuration of each bluetooth device for either "Call audio" or "Media audio" or both if you only have 1 device (maybe Android generally does this?). So now the Jabra handles only "Calls" and the Nulaxy "Media".
Since my car the factory installed "iPod Integration" I did an experiment with an old USB memory stick that I reformatted to FAT32 specs... this is important for the PCM to be able to see it! I then download some songs into it and selected the USB option on the PCM. This alternative offers a whole lot more flexibility since it treats the memory stick as a giant CD. Thus on the PCM you can see the song titles, select songs by artist/genre/track, skip forward and back, etc. In my case this is important since I have over 6,800+ songs, don't want to fidget with the phone while I'm driving and it's easier to work with the PCM.
So last night I ordered a 64GB USB 3.0 Memory stick for $16 and a 6 inch USB extension cable. The cable is important because I've read that these memory sticks can get pretty hot... mostly when writing to them. However, I didn't want to take a chance of the stick possibility overheating and damaging the USB port on the car. This way it will hopefully create a heatsink or at least a buffer between the two.

Why not just go USB? I have a flashdrive with all my music on it. That's how I'm able to listen to my music. I'm with you when you're right, bcuz I'm more bothered by all the commercials or talking or lack of nonstop music. In my previous 911 I was having issues with the USB and factory amp and had them replaced along with the head unit. Alot more costly than a decent USB and all your music on it.

I am hoping to use an iPod (older if necessary) to shuffle my sounds in my 2011 GTS sound system.
Has anyone found a good combination for this type of connection??
Thanks, Bob

I have read there is a particular combination of older iPod and connecting cable that seemed to work quite well, not glitches.
Can't seem to find the thread for this and was looking for input/experience with this approach.
Thx.
