Nominal free play on back wheel ?
I have a 2009 997.2 C2S with a 6 speed manual and would like to consult other owners on this issue :
When I jack up one end of the car at the rear, and placing the transmission in gear (i.e. 5th), then rotating the elevated back wheel, I get about 5/8" free play. I believe some backlash (free play is normal, but in my case is 5/8" within spec ? This transaxle does not have LSD. No I don't get any thumping sound during acceleration or de-acceleration.

Not an issue - when you consider that the play comes from the driveshaft splines, CV joints, ring and pinion differential gears and transmission gears between you moving the wheel and the actual clutch plate which is firmly held to the engine by the pressure plate.
