997 Lemon Goes Down For the Count
Last night, I was pulling out of the gas station with my bone stock 997 and my car stalls and turns off. The clutch was fully depressed when it turned off so I knew something was up. Turn the car back on, drive off and BAM! The car starts sputtering and struggling to move. The CEL flashes and the car turns off while I am driving to get my friend. I can not explain in words how this car was acting. It completely broke down. When I say "sputtering", I mean "sputtering!!". TKO . I manage to start the car and get it to my friends pad. Its like driving a '57 Chevy with a rebuilt engine. What a piece of garbage. Look at my avatar. Is this really happening to me? The car is parked and awaiting to be towed on Monday.

Sorry to hear it - any chance you got some really bad gas at that station? It's happened before, and it doesn't take very long to screw up your car with bad gas. There was a station in Texas that filled the super unleaded tanks with diesel and screwed up a bunch of cars. Keep your receipt just in case.....

I know a good lemon law firm if you need one.
I sent my E46 M3 back on the lemon law. Felt so good to drive it for 12K miles, walk into the same dealership that I purchased it at and hand them the keys to a car that had not been washed in 6 weeks.
They handed me a check.
Good luck.

I know it sounds rediculous but could it be bad gas? It has happened to my E55 Benz. Put in Super then took off and the damn car practically stalled in front of a semi at an intersection. It was sputtering all over the place, lights all came on and I barely made it to the dealer. They told me believe it or not that I should try to use only Chevron Super with Techroline. I thought what kind of bulls..t is this. But it has happened twice and both times the dealer emptied the tank, put in fuel addative and within a tank of gas it was running great again. I hope your fix is that simple. Coincidentally I had two boats do the exact same thing on the river last summer right after filling up super in both tanks. Same exact thing you have said happened to your car. The only thing in common between the boats and my car was that they are all supercharged. I hope you get back on road soon. Best of luck!

Last nights problem is definately not bad gas. It's Chevron from a dealer I have used numerous times. As far as the MAF, would the car completely self destruct as a result of a failed sensor?
