Hey
I talked to my broker guy, he said he is not dealing with Japan yet.
However, He told me he will locate someone for me.
Which state are you located and when are you planning to leave the state?

im dealing with this at the moment too, and i found out that some country in asia wont accept used car coming into the country for personal use.. unless you work for the embassy of US in tokyo they could provide you with their car documents. if you could ship and register the car under a brand new car then there would be no problem from the custom side, my advice is try out a different car if youre in tokyo.. there lots of other nice car that you cant get here in the states.. Skyline r34 probably.

i don't think so. you just have to get used to it. i drove around in Hong Kong in the past, just have to remember to stay on the left side of the road. the only problem would be if you have to go through a toll road, or pay for something in the car.......

I think you mean right hand drive where the steering wheel is on the right side. And consequently, they drive on the left side of the road.

I was thinking the same thing.

You'll get used to that in a few days, right after you demolish a few side mirrors Drove a LHD car in the UK before and got used to it pretty fast.

Have you checked with Fedex. I read an article that they ship auto's as well. And they are insured for up to $100,000 per auto. I think the article was in Rob Report. They actually recommended Fedex because of all the problems people were experiencing with auto shipping. Another reason is you can track your vechicle delivery with a tracking number like you would with a package.

Good luck.

I have family that lives in Japan and if i am not mistaken, the shipping costs and import duties will be so high they will outweigh the benefits of taking your 997.

Plus, Japan purposely makes having a car so expensive to encourage people to use public transport. I wouldnt be surprised if the cost of shipping the car plus import duties exceed $100,000
