997 4/4S advice
i am in process of selling my 05 turbo S cab and looking for a C4/C4S CAB- I like the wide rear and interior. i know i am compromising power but need to downgrade for financial reasons. I would like to get a C4 but will the engine be a dissapointment...also is there a rear tail mod made yet for the 997 cabriolet and who is supplier?
Here's my turbo S for sale.

i test drove the new S with the bigger engine and compared to my 996 c4s the engine did have more noticeable power and pull. I think you will only miss some of the high end power that the turbo has but the 3.6 i think you would see a noticeable drop in power.

buy the S if u're going to buy it. my dealer confirmed the same thought i have. the regular C2 & C4 market is getting killed by Cayman from the hp, handling & price point of view. C4 is worse since it's more expensive & heavier. most dealers do not want them in the lot.

Billy if you are really going this route (even though it makes zero sense since you will mod it and spend the same as the payment on the TT cab you have over time ) you need to go with the "s" model.
The drop from 450hp to 320hp will be way to drastic for you if you do not do the "s" route. The S with the sport chrono at least will give you a "feel" of decent torque.

Ignore the 10k MSRP difference between the C2/C4 and C2S/C4S - it's not a true comparison. Option up a C2/C4 with nineteens and bi-xenons, and take into account that you don't get the 3.8l motor, red calipers, and PASM - and the value really shows through.
Also, the S models can be equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust (XLF) from the factory. "Base" models cannot...
On a more esoteric note: it seems the the 997 "4" models are 'less desirable' than the 996 AWD cars, as they wear the widebody but not the turbo facia and rear bumper. I feel that many folks who loved the 100% turbo look of the 996 C4S are disappointed with the 997 C4S's lack of a true turbo look... so, you should be able to get a better deal. I know that I did - and that's why I bought it! I'm picking the car up on Monday or Tuesday of next week, and I can't wait!
The S-car will help smooth your move from the Turbo, Dr. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do!

200ccs don't seem like much until you look at the power curves!

Not true XLF is available on both base and S models.
