I told you about my experience this morning. How do you expect me to value your understanding of horsepower, torque, weight, gearing and power curves (whatever that is) -- oh, and physics, logic and the experience you talked about (well, you stated you have experience, but I just read a lot of hot air without anything to support it). I also offered to other readers a test to really see how these cars compare. What I have said and offered is a lot more than your meaningless comments.
If you actually have something to offer, I'm all ears. To this point, I think you should have been a lawyer (most are dumb and worthless; some are brilliant). If you have some experience to talk about, let's hear it. Otherwise, you are waisting our time.
By the way, R&T published numbers for the 996TT and 997S (not X51). The 997S was faster 0-60 and they were equal in the 1/4 mile. The last time I looked, the 996TT had more hp (415 vs 355) and more torque (a lot more than 290). The TT is heavier; but not a lot. I suppose R&T is also ignorant?

Assuming it was a real GT2, he didn't know how to drive. That's the only explanation needed. Your car, given experienced drivers, will NEVER get close to a GT2 in acceleration. You can offer to line up, race, whatever. It doesn't matter, you're not going to get close to a GT2 if the guy can drive worth a damn. End of story.

PS: IMO a healthy club coupe with its 381HP 3.8L is dead even with a regular 996 TT acceleration wise. And the GT2 is only "measurably" quicker than the regular 996 TT (it'll "walk" it with ease, but its not a "night and day" difference).....hence, with a bad driver in the GT2 as you mentioned I can easily see you keeping up with it as you did. The margin a GT2 is faster than a light, 381HP Club coupe carrera S isn't significant enough where one can seriously mis-drive the GT2 and yet it'll still pull away hard. (stock vs. stock)
...I raced a poorly driven TT once and was even with it in my 996 C2.....the driver redlining it in every gear and executing fast/proper shifts is very important to getting the times/speed out of any car*

Here is a post about EXPERIENCE and he offers INSIGHT! Clearly not a "lawyer" or a pop-off that makes NO contribution whatsoever.
Good job, Kevin. This is a response worth reading -- it says something.

The non-X50 Turbo has been magazine tested at 3.9 sec in the 0-60 run (C&D Sep 2000), and at 11.92 sec in the quarter (Motor Trend).

...I don't understand all the animosity here...the 997 Carrera S X51 (or club coupe) is every bit as impressive as a 996 TT...probably more so on the track. A GT2 is definitely a faster car, but not faster enough to mask a bad driver.....a good driver in a 997 911 S X51 would beat a slightly less than average driver in a GT2....the GT2 does high 11's/low 12's in the 1/4 mile @ 120mph.....the 997 S X51 will do it in low 12's @ 116-117mph.....again, a hiccup by the GT2 driver and you're right on his tail in the 997 S X51. (Assuming the drivers are constant, the GT2 would "walk" the 997 S X51 convincingly....but wouldn't "make it look dumb" ..LOL. Sorry, but you must think 456HP makes a car jump time zones, its not ALL THAT. Now with a GIAC stage 2 upgrade and an exhaust yes, you could put an orangutan in the GT2 and it would still pull away hard. But we're talking about stock vs. stock)

I have driven several 997S's. It's a great car. I have also driven a couple of GT2's and if you guys really think there is a comparison than you are stoned IMO. The GT2 will spank a 997S, that's a fact. The only way a 997S can beat a GT2 in a straight line is if the GT2 has a really really bad driver and the 887S driver is a very good driver.
I have raced a 997S in my 965T and spanked him both from a roll and a dead stop.

...like I said, a well driven 997 Carrera S "X51" will "hang" with an improperly driven GT2.
