^LOL, You guys are in denial and make up any reason you want that a 997S can keep up with a GT2. What if and excuses, blah blah
Same driver in each car will get a much faster time out of the GT2 than the 997S every time. From a roll or a stop, I have driven both very hard and the GT2 is without question a much quicker car.

I figured out how we can solve this debate. Larry (loliver here on the forums) has a Club coupe and a GT2. Maybe he can give us some insight.

Look bud, I think I'll post my opinion any time I want. Posts here do not have to be based upon 100% experience to carry relevance, or to qualify for some posting litmus test.
Who called who ignorant?
The non-X50 Turbo has been magazine tested at 3.9 sec in the 0-60 run (C&D Sep 2000), and at 11.92 sec in the quarter (Motor Trend).

Let me know what he says. That is the kind of insight I was looking for. I hope he has had the two out together to observe the differences. The "feel" can be misleading.

Kevin, isn't this incredible? You cite an "experience" and people disagree with your "experience?" Some people...
To all of you who disagree with my experience, please take a good look at the title of the thread: "About to be Hammered." I fully expect TT, TT-S and GT2 people to argue that the GT2 is faster. The fact is that none of you guys have any stats on the X51. Luis is the first person to make a GREAT suggestion -- ask someone with both cars. They owner of the cars may have a favorite car, and he may have an "opinion" (biased or not). He might have facts from his own side by side observation -- we'll see. These statements that some of you people make, with NOTHING to support them, amaze me.
It is NOT my intention to trash the 996 TT; TT-S or GT2, but they are "old" technology. Porsche does make improvements. That doesn't mean the X51 is faster than the GT2, but I really did have an experience with one today which I related in this thread. I sense there are a lot of 996 people who are a little touchy about their cars. I like mine too.

The GT2 will spank a 997S, that's a fact. The only way a 997S can beat a GT2 in a straight line is if the GT2 has a really really bad driver and the 887S driver is a very good driver.
I have raced a 997S in my 965T and spanked him both from a roll and a dead stop.

If the GT2 passed at 20mph, he was quite possibly in 2nd gear when the race began. If the 997 floored it in 1st, and the guy in the GT2 hesitated just a little, then planted it in 2nd, we could easily see the result described.
From an equal start, the GT2 would walk away. Not run, though. At least, not until well over 100 mph.
