Modded 997S vs 997 GT3
#91
They are both great cars, but they are total opposites. The GT3 is a "drivers" car IMO, it is raw and made for the track or to give it hell. The 997S is a great car but IMO it is not what the GT3 is about.

I just wander if it's the absolute best choice. Neither suck though. I think the warranty thing is one of the main issues here.

I'm sure that is correct... in the extreme. You put a modded out 997S with SC up to most any other car on the planet and IT will be the driver's car of the bunch. I won't disagree with what you are saying. But I think that in all the analyzation that occurs by us 'on the forums debating car guys' extremes get appreciated more than they should be in many cases and the small comforts afforded through minute compromises get ignored or unappreciated simply to the effect of 'hardcore' and all that. Just a thought. Consider how truly hardcore your driving experience and how you truly don't care about anything else before you choose between these two cars. I tell you, driving on regular roads every day (granted, with springs and 20s) makes me feel pretty hardcore in my S... almost too hardcore. And I drag race this thing at 1/4 mile strips and consider myself a true redneck. Plus, I would expect that the torque feeling of my SC 3.8 is more than that in the GT3... which IS a car that I love but haven't driven. And again, mine feels pretty stout and 'one track mindedly pure'.

Honestly, my best run is a 12.8. We had a oil problem (a car before me blew a rod on the track), so I launched with traction control on and just rolled on from idle. It pulled hard from there. It has only been to the track once since the charger and it isn't fully tuned yet either. We still have bugs to work out. My times were at 3400ft elevation at 92 degrees also. I would say that I could get a 12.2 or so... maybe better. Evo got one to do 11.45, and that was a 3.6 while mine's a 3.8. I don't think I am a good enough driver to get that. I had a 13.2 at the same track without a SC or any mods at all. By this, I actually SHOULD be able to get an 11 there... I think. I recently ran with my 20s too, which doesn't help either.

I did a little less than 107 before the sc and I think I hit something like 116 when I was rolling on, but I'm not sure. I didn't pay much attention to the slips just because I was pissed about the oil.
Thanks for the compliment. Yours looks like a stunner in that avatar.
