Interesting day (understatement)

I guess Rusnak are becoming one of the dealers one might want to avoid:

I understand that Porsche cars log both overrevs for (1) when the rev limiter kicks in and (2) when the engine goes beyond the rev limiter (misshift). At this point, the best strategy is to go to another dealer and have then double check that the service place is reading your ECU properly and not mixing type (1) with type (2).
I read stories about dealers trying to argue that type (1) is bad which should be easy to defeat. The purpose of a rev limiter is to keep the engine in the safe operating range. Reaching that limit should not harm the engine in anyway or the manufacturer set the limit too high.
Now, if indeed your engine was overreved with mechanical misshift, I'm afraid the best way is to get it fixed by a trusted independent mechanic.
Good luck.

There are two levels;
TYPE 1
These are when you bump the rev-limiter
TYPE 2
These are mechanical over-revs (ie: a missed shift or wrong gear selected) and are the nasty ones which will void your warantee.
Breakdown of type 2:
Number of ignitions, range 1-RPM Range 7,300-7,500
Number of ignitions, range 2-RPM Range 7,500-7,700
Number of ignitions, range 3-RPM Range 7,700-7,900
Number of ignitions, range 4-RPM Range 7,900-8,400 (Some damage)
Number of ignitions, range 5-RPM Range 8,400-9,500 (Damage)
Number of ignitions, range 6-RPM Range 9,500-11,000 (Damage)

Whatever issues you are having with the dealership aside. I think you shouldn't worry too much about the tranny. During the first 500-1000 miles, I remember I was stuck at 3 traffic lights because I couldn't get into gear. It has not happened since. Give your tranny time to loosen up and you shouldn't have any more problems.

Take the car to your dealer and tell him to hook up the PIWIS and do a full check up.
