Protocol for deposit on cancelled order
Just curious to hear what others have experienced when cancelling on an ordered car. I had my deposit in since late April on an '07, July build/August delivery, that still hasn't shown up, and was just cancelled.
Not the end of the world that they chose to tell me I can't have my deposit back, but I would think that with C2S coupes still in high demand and relatively low supply, that they wouldn't have much problem selling it at or near msrp. And given the fact that we had bought another car two years ago from the same dealer, I would have thought they would want to keep us as potential future customers. On the other hand, maybe they figured anyone who flakes on an ordered car is a pos, lol.

simply they are f**king with you. Just demand your money back or your will take the legal route. Talk to the manager not the scum sales person. I have yet to have any problem on getting deposit back. Unless you ordered a wierd color like speed yellow with terra interior.

What dealer is this?!
If you placed an order with a certain delivery date and they
have missed that date by a large margin, then I believe that it is they not you who have broken the terms of the deal. and as such you would be entitled to your deposit back.
Is this the norm? I thought once a build date was given that the germans
are very accurate with this sort of thing?

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards pursuing this. The previous sales manager was much easier to deal with, new guy is cordial but my impression is that he's kind of an ***.
To answer one previous question, the dealership is Michael Porsche in Fresno, CA.

By law they have to give you your money back. You can walk out of the deal even if the car has been registered as long as you did not pick it up. Some of the dealers are a pain when it comes to getting your money back, but if the case goes to court 99.999% is ruled in the favor of the consumer.
