Techart and Rinspeed make steering wheels for the 997...in fact Rinspeed makes an alcantara wheel that is way cool!

Rinspeed costs a lot but is definetely awesome...probably the best looking around!

 

get the factory one with carbon fiber it's not thik but it looks nice

any body knows how much would it cost with the airbag ?

I believe with Techart, you send them your wheel and they just simply stitch on another layer of leather, no? Or at least they used to (friends 996 Carrera).

 

Actually Techart just sends you a wheel in your specification. You only send them your steering wheel AFTER you've gotten the new Techart steering wheel installed. They charge you a core charge if you choose to keep your stock wheel so there's no additional charge. So initially, there's no need for you to send them your steering wheel. That wouldn't make sense because then you wouldn't even be able to drive the car until you've gotten yours back.

There are also several variations from Techart too. Leather/leather, leather/CF, etc. Type 1 (multifunction) or type 2 (sport steering wheel), etc. The prices vary as a result. Mine is type 2, leather and CF and cost around $2k.
