What do you guys think of these wheels?

SSR GT3's won't be available for the 997.
Low cost does not fully mean bad quality, you just have to know the questions to ask.
Ask if they are low pressure cast or gravity cast. If gravity cast say no - period. They will be way too soft. Especially if the roads around you are mine fields. If LP cast ask if they are heat treated and or/shot peened. If not at least heat treated, pass. If they give you the deer-in-the-headlights look - run.
If so try and find If they are made by a reputible foundry.
Ask if the lip is clear coated or at minimum stainless steel, otherwise you will be polishing them all the time.
Are they bored hubcentric to the car or do they need centering rings? If so, are the rings included and alloy? Lugnuts?
What's the warranty - build and finish.
Has the shop been around for awhile? Will they help you if you have a warranty issue?

How do you find out which foundry they were cast? Are there several favored foundries in the industry?
I don't know if Tire Rack keeps this info available for checking, but one thing I wish that aftermarket wheel merchandisers could do so easily is: to include in all advertisements the weights of each brand/type of wheel....could be standardized for one size---Tire Rack could weigh each new make/model and publish # in the ads....such as, GT3 SSR's in 18" diameter, 8-inch width have weight of approx. 22 lbs. 3 oz. or whatever.... (understood it may vary slightly depending on offset, but the margin of error due to offset wouldn't exceed a couple of grams.) In other words, publish the weight info for at least one dia/width size for EVERY make and model advertised. [/rant]
It would put some competitive pressure on the crappy, butter-soft cast wheel/boat anchor mfr's to revamp their product or be forced off the market...in my humble opinion.... Thanks again for the info on different cast methods.

Damon,
Can you get the SSR GT3's in a 19" rim for the 996tt? I also wonder if you can can get the center caps with the painted porsch crest.

SSR discontinued all of the 19 x 11.5 rears in both silver and satin. I do have a few silvers left, but no satin. They have not discontinued the Satin center for the front wheels but I won't have any until January.
So, I basically cannot get a match set of front and rear wheels in 19" unless they decide to restart production on the backs......sorry.
