That's it. Works great at a fraction of the "Porsche" unit cost
( probably all made by the same company ) Lol

re

Just ordered it on amazon last night as the bid for the ctek one fell through.

Do you guys use the alligator clips, the cigarette lighter, or hardwire to the battery?

Cigarette lighter - makes it more convenient to plug/unplug.

I have a silly question,

Just got the B&D vec080B in the mail. I charged it over night and the light has turned green, I know i'm suppose to leave it in to trickle/maintain but does it matter if I have it set at 1 or 2 amps?

It should not really matter once the battery is charged , but I keep mine always on 1 amp .

i got my cigarette lighter porsche charger three years ago for about $65.00, the car is stored for at least 4 months, I've never had a problem with my battery.
If I knew of the Black & Decker 3 years ago, I too would have bought it.

This is the best device for maintaining my battery. I bought mine on sale from the local porsche dealer for $99 off season. There are other web sites that sell this with the cigarette adapter for less than the Porsche version. Gotta look for them.

Hey all, I just got my Carrera S delivered last night. I was able to take it for a decent drive before the snow hit. My question is how long can I keep it parked without worrying about the battery dying? If it sits 2 or 3 weeks is that too long without a trickle charger? Are there any down sides to the trickle chargers such as effects to battery life?

buy a battery maintainer, different than a trickle charge and much better and safer for the batter and car. 2-3 weeks without a charge won't kill the battery, but a ctek or porsche battery maintainer is far better.

This is what I saw on the Porsche site. Is this it? Just asking because this one says its a trickle charger.

Porsche Charge-o-mat II battery charger
The latest generation of Porsche trickle charger, perfect for maintaining battery charge on vehicles left idle for extended periods. An adapter is available for cars without a cigarette lighter.

There is a maintainer I (you need a good full battery for it) or maintainer/charger II which charges and maintains it (good if you travel a lot). Go with #2, only $20 more.
