Is this the factory battery maintainer for the 997 ? Anyone used it, good price ? Or, if anyone knows where to get a better deal I'd be interested to know. Thanks

It's the same one Neil. They don't make one specific to the 997. Since my dead battery issue, I use mine religiously.

It is made by CTEK, Porsche slaps there sticker on it. I have it and it works great.
You can but the same product here ($69.95) if you don't care about the label.

like sandoval posted the porsche is a relabeled CTEK 3300 which you can buy all over the place for $60-70 proably even cheaper if you search hard enough. I got mine for $65 shipped. It works perfectly and if comes with the pigtials to quick-connect to any battery as well as the lighter adapter. The quick-connect is a far better way to charge as its a direct conection to the battery and not through a lighter and fuse panel which add impedence and resistence....extra quick-connects for additional vehicles were $4 each.
