What Kind of Power From HEADERS AND CHIP
#31
Guys seriously!
headers alone make no power - tried and tested several cars.
Software will make a difference in HP and Tq- but most noticeable will be the throttle response and mid range torque that is improved..
If you are looking at performance from an exhaust system the biggest restriction is in the catalyst - Go with a high flow catalyst and that is where you will gain the most power. Mufflers make very little to no power - mostly sound.
However if you approach the entire exhaust system as a complete unit it boils down to this.
Catalyst make power
Headers- aid in this power by extending the power band and throttle response.
Mufflers aid in sound and very little power.
A good option for exhaust is the complete system from AWE.
We have also been very happy with the Tubi Mufflers/ Tubi header and Cargraphic 200 cell catalyst combination.
The Cargraphic full system also works very well but is the most expensive of all..........

However, to me moding is for fun and making my car unqie. I always measure the success of mods based on how I feel after it. Not by paper dyno charts...
Just my 2cents

Say company A's intake devolopes max 10hp at 4300 RPM, company B's header does 15Hp at 4500 RPM, company C's ECU does 20 HP at 3000 - 5000 RPM.
The total peak horse power from all these mods make is 35 horse power at 4500 RPM. Not 10 + 15 + 20 = 45hp.
hope that makes sense.
Happy holidays all

i did dyno runs before and after the installation of my suncoast headers. they were done right before and after the installation. same day, same dyno/operator. not even mileage to let the ecu adjust.
approximatley 25 rwhp max
approximately 10 rwhp peak
i've seen dynos of the same product on different 996's and they get the same results. there was a slight dip in the low end, but that's exhaust tuning. give some to get some.

i went to z fever in tampa. it is off lois ave in drew park. the car is making around 425 to the wheels.
this is one of the "after runs". i can't remember if it's the best one, but you get the idea....

yes, but like i said. i've seen dyno runs with the suncoast headers on NA 996's with the exact same results. that's what got me interested in them in the first place. at the time they had just finished developing them. they offered me a full refund if they didn't dyno out to the charts i had seen. they did, so i kept them i don't think the supercharger had anything to do with the results.
